After locating this bright yellow feathered friend, I quickly discovered why it's aptly named after a state known hometown friendliness and hospitality. The Kentucky Warbler is not shy. In fact it loves the spotlight! Of course I was using the iBird Pro App to call this friendly neighbor and it did not disappoint. This is one of many warblers available for viewing in the diverse wildlife area of the Daniel Boone National Forest - in this case near Cave Run Lake. The Kentucky Warbler is only about 5 1/2 inches long, but packs a strong penetrating song similar to the Carolina Wren and likes hanging out on the ground. Its head features a black mask with black sideburns along with bright yellow eyebrows. Its upper parts feature an olive-green cast.
